FORD Thunderbird Cabriolet 1955 (LHD)

Price: € P.O.A.

  • Year: January 1955
  • Kilometers: 64,000 miles
  • Exterior: Thunderbird Blue
  • Interior: Turquoise, white
  • Engine: 4700cc V8
  • Transmission: Auto
  • Seats: 2
  • Steering: LHD

This amazing 1955 Thunderbird is in exceptional ’original’ condition, it has never been painted and retains all its original equipment.
The current owner purchased the ’T-Bird’ through his friend Peter Gleeson of the ‘Peterson Museum’ in Seattle, where it had been in the collection for 10 years. He was told by his friend “he must never restore the car, because cars are only ever original once”.
In one of the best colour combinations of ‘Thunderbird Blue’ with a turquoise and white interior, this rare early ’T-Bird’ also benefits from its original ‘Hardtop’ in addition to a black folding hood. The only upgrade made to this Thunderbird is the bench seat, which was recently refurbished (however the original material has been retained).
The 4.7L V8 engine with automatic gearbox drives very well and the car has been meticulously maintained and serviced by its current owner as part of his impressive “American car collection’.
The Ford Thunderbird was made famous by the Beach Boys classic song “Fun, Fun, Fun” featuring the lyrics "We'll have fun, fun, fun, till her daddy takes the T'bird away”. The story goes that “Shirley Johnson England, whose father Howard, owned the Utah radio station KNAK, claims that she used to borrow her dad's T-Bird and one day got caught taking it to the drive-in, instead of the library. The Beach Boys spent a lot of time at the station for promotional appearances, and when they heard this story, they wrote the song about Shirley”.
This very authentic 1955 Thunderbird has a ‘Carte Grise de Collection’ and can be viewed by appointment in Tournon d’Agenais, department 47.
CCSC are selling the car on behalf of their client.
